How Jax Fence Line works
Jax Fence Line is a free referral service for homeowners in the Jacksonville area. We are not a fence contractor. When you send a request, we pass it to an independent local fence company that serves your area, and they contact you to measure, price the work and schedule it.
- Tell us about the fence. Rough length, height, material if you know it, and your ZIP. A photo of the yard helps.
- A local fence company calls you back. They set a time to walk the line and measure. Ask whether the estimate is free.
- You get the price in writing before any post goes in. Compare it with another quote if you like. You decide.
How we make money
The fence company pays us for the introduction. You never pay us anything. We don't build fences, we don't set prices and we don't take deposits.
About licensing
Florida's contractor licensing law, section 489.105, lists the trades the state licenses, from general contractors to pool contractors. Fence building is not one of them. The City of Jacksonville's Construction Trades Qualifying Board, which issues local certificates of competency, does not list a fence category either. Some Florida counties license fence contractors locally (Brevard County lists fence contractor as a license type), so the rule depends on where the work is. So we don't call anyone "licensed" for fence work. What you can check: a certificate of liability insurance, who pulls the permit, and a written quote. What a good quote shows.
What we ask of the fence company
A written price before any work starts, a clear answer about who pulls the permit, and a straight answer about where the line runs. If your experience falls short of that, tell us at (904) 875-3003.
How we know what we know
Each page closes with the sources behind it. Housing numbers come from the US Census Bureau's American Community Survey; storm declarations from FEMA's open data; height limits from the City of Jacksonville's ordinance and the Jacksonville Beach permitting guide; prices from published national cost guides.
